Found online this week: Geoff Trenchard
As a compulsive Youtube-wwilfer I’m always on the lookout for new poetry-related videos, and as you’ve probably noticed, I spend a lot of my Youtube time perusing the thousands of Def Poetry Jam excerpts that have been uploaded. DPJ is such a cool show; I often wonder (though I also kind of know) why something of the same ilk hasn’t been tried out in the UK. I know loads of people who say that watching the show got them into poetry… do we just need a British Russell Simmons to come along and make it happen?
Anyway… I was clicking through some of my old favourites the other day when I came across Geoff Trenchard’s Ode To My Bathroom (below). This was a new one on me but I loved it instantly, knowing only too well what it’s like to teach lit in such circumstances. A few more clicks led me to more of Trenchard’s poems, and since I ended up adding a heap of them to my Youtube favourites, I thought I’d also share them here. Enjoy!
Heaps more here.
Don’t forget to visit The Read This Store, and its sister store, Edinburgh Vintage!
