Procrastination Station #6
OK, here are my picks from teh interwebs this week!
As usual I have been haunting the Guardian Books Blog obsessively. Get over there to find out why, if you’re writing about writing, you’re probably limiting yourself. You can find out how to improve yourself, and make sure you check your spam folder to see if you’ve received the scam email that appeals to a writer’s vanity! There are also features on rain-themed poetry and dream poetry, and a bit of nostalgia over all-time favourite bookstores!
Looking for audio poetry, but not sure where to find it? Look no further!
While looking for writing advice from famous people, I came across this great video by one of my all-time favourite novelists, Neil Gaiman.
I know some of you have the impending-winter blues, so these are for you: How To Quickly Change A Negative Mood Into A Positive One, How To Lift Yourself Out Of A Bad Day and 4 Reasons Why Failure Is Actually Pretty Awesome. Gotta love The Positivity Blog!
Lifehack recently posted some good stuff on writer’s block: Breaking Through and Just Keep Writing!
The brilliant Palestinian poet Naomi Shihab Nye is interviewed here; my latest discovery, Imtiaz Dharker, reads two poems here, and you can find out from the great Kurt Vonnegut How To Write With Style!
Some questions: Why blog (there are pros and cons)?? What are blurbs for?? What kind of reviews should poetry get?? Why do teenagers like writing poetry so much??
Richard Galbraith has said nice things about ONS, and by the way, did I mention I’m famous?
&, to end on a random note, I really want one of these.
